Helge Larsen Jeweller and Sliversmith
Helge taught at the University of NSW and in 1976 established the Jewellery and Silversmithing Studio at Sydney College of the Arts, now part of the University of Sydney. An institution that has trained generations of professional jewellers in NSW. In the 1970’s Helge and Darani joined the international jewellery movement with Helge’s proficiency in a number of languages facilitating his teaching and professional opportunities in Europe. Helge was appointed consultant to the Crafts Board, Australia Council for the Arts, and curated a number of national jewellery exhibitions to Europe and Asia. Initiatives that culminated in the landmark "Cross Currents" exhibition in 1984 featuring leading practitioners in contemporary jewellery from Australia and Europe, as well as placing Australian jewellers on the world stage. A unique venture jointly conceived by Helge Larsen and Otto Künzli, a Swiss trained Goldsmith based in Munich, Germany.
